Do diversity statements need to be something that are painted in a negative light or can a personal statement be about a meaningful experience or extra curricular that you were a part of that gave you an unique perspective?
Fay Boyaki

Hi, should I include the school name I’m are applying to in the personal statement? For example, if I’m applying to USC, should I mention USC in my PS?

Can I talk about multiple topics for the diversity statement? I plan on talking about a family member with mental illness, about being a first gen college/law student, and being an Asian American

Hi, thank you so much for holding these info sessions! Question: When it comes to formatting, should we think of the essay as having a traditional intro paragraph, thesis statement and conclusion? Or should it be more of a narrative story the whole way through?
Kimberly Do
35:06
Also, is talking about mental illness too personal of a topic? Thank you

Shuijing - You absolutely may include “USC Gould School of Law” in your PS, but it is not required.
Amado Castillo

What is your position on using quotes in your personal statement? I have heard from several schools that they are against it.

@Shuijing It is up to you but if you chose to include the school name, please make sure you send the correct PS to the correct school. It can come across as careless if you send a PS with a different school name.
Joseph Gregory

To clarify, we can upload a “Why USC?” as an additional statement to the PS? I apologize if I said diversity statement. I meant to ask about including the “Why USC?” in a PS, not a DS.

Hi, if we’re reapplying , howcan we present our personal statement and diversity statement in a new or more interesting way? How can I change the same set of experiences so it doesn’t look like I’m submitting the same documents ? Thank you

I took a gap year because of the pandemic, and took a job that doesn’t relate to the reason why I want to study law. Should I address it since it will be shown on my resume?

Hi, thank you for hosting such ahelpful event. I have a question regarding the lsat. Will submitting apps in January/February 2022 and taking the Jan 2022 lsat still be considered in the early cycle for scholarship consideration ?
